What is an education fair?
- An opportunity for employees to learn about a variety of educational programs for working adults. offered by local colleges and universities
- An opportunity for employees to speak directly with school representatives, ask questions, and pick up information about programs that are offered.
Why host an education fair?
- To show that you care about your employees’ careers.
- To encourage employees to continue their professional development.
- To retain and retrain good employees.
- To help meet affirmative action goals.
- To provide a morale boost for employees.
When and where are they held?
- During lunch periods, usually from 11:00 am – 2 pm.
- Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays are the best days.
- A central location at the work site.
How can we schedule one?
- Contact Steve Scordo at 240-582-2535 or sscordo@umuc.edu
- He will assist you in working out the logistics and inviting representatives from local colleges and universities to participate in your fair.
- He can also provide marketing materials such as flyers, posters, and sample email messages to help promote the event.
Many companies throughout the area take advantage of the support that WE CARE provides in setting up these events. We would be happy to provide references from companies that we have worked with in your area.
